Status Update

November 6, 2009:

The new tunnel structure (concrete walls and roof) is complete out to the building location, and installation of the new steam/chilled water piping in the new tunnel is ongoing. The primary purpose of the tunnel is to transport steam and chilled water to the building from the central campus Power Plant. Steam and chilled water provide the energy transfer medium necessary for air conditioning and heating the entire building. The building's main communication and fiber wiring will also feed through the new tunnel. Over the last couple of weeks, the construction crews have finished the work necessary for relocating a main water line, as well as a main gas line on the project site.
